Harbin SHS Animal Rescue + CODE GIVE567

When she first checked out Harbin SHS Animal Rescue on Instagram, Jennifer Chung was both horrified and motivated to action. “A friend of mine asked me to donate to this foundation to save a truck full of dogs that were on their way to a slaughterhouse,” Jennifer recounts. “As painful as it is to watch the videos and see the condition these dogs are in, I feel it’s important not to turn a blind eye but to bring awareness to what is happening in China, Korea, and other countries -- it is absolutely devastating. Three expat educators started this rescue and do such amazing work for the animals they can save. ” Just look at these two dogs before and after Harbin SHS Animal Rescue encountered them:

Many activists in China and elsewhere put their lives at risk each and every day to help animals who are suffering. The three expat educators who founded Slaughterhouse Survivors saw that they could make a difference in the way animals are treated in China, too. They began by taking in five animals who would otherwise have gone to the slaughterhouse and within eighteen months had saved the lives of 400 animals. “Humans are behind what horrors these animals suffer, it is only right that humans rectify it and be their voice to stop it happening again,” say Harbin SHS Animal Rescue’s founders.

Whether dogs, cats, and other animals are found buried alive (and somehow miraculously still alive when discovered!), in the back of a meat truck on their way to slaughter, in the apartment of someone who died, withering away on the street, discarded from a fighting ring, or in any other terrifying situation, when Harbin SHS Animal Rescue learn of their plight they take them in. Veterinarians then examine and provide emergency care for each animal, before other volunteers nurse the miserable animals back to health. Finally, volunteers transport the rehabilitated animals (even via flights to the U.S., Europe, and Canada!) to partner rescue organizations that re-home them so they will be loved, appreciated, and nurtured for the rest of their lives.
